STRAIGHT ANSWER SATURDAY
Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 10 am – 4 pm

The Office of the Indiana Secretary of State is sending out an SOS – an urgent appeal for help. They want honest professionals to join them for a day of community service. Volunteers with expertise in financial, legal, and medical matters will meet with folks in need of some facetime and hard facts.

At their Straight Answer Saturday event, you will meet one-on-one with attendees to provide FREE assistance. Think of it as a sampling of the services you already offer. They don’t expect you to fix every problem, but your guidance can help folks get their lives back on track. Financial planners can discuss finances, budgeting, saving, and investing. Attorneys can provide insight into estate planning, wills, power of attorney documents, and advance healthcare directives. CPAs can review tax documents and offer filing suggestions. Clinicians can perform screenings for cognitive impairment and offer referrals. This is a small sampling of the large service we’re confident you will provide to the Hoosiers who attend Straight Answer Saturday.

The office of the Secretary of State is offering this program as a service to the community. They can’t succeed without your help. Please offer your time and expertise.   To get involved, email Kelly Griese at [email protected]. Provide your name, organization/company, your field of expertise, and the hours you are available to volunteer.

When: Saturday, September 24, 2016 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

INDIANAPOLIS FINANCIAL PLANNING DAY
Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 10 am – 3 pm

Indianapolis Financial Planning Day will return to the University of Indianapolis again this year on Saturday, October 15 from 10 am to 3 pm.  We are in need of volunteer planners to give free, no-strings attached, one-on-one advice, as well as planners who can present financial planning topics in seminar format.  Please contact Pro-Bono Director Ryan Thomas at [email protected] with any questions or to volunteer.

Financial Planning Day 2015:
Financial Planning Day was held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Indiana Wesleyan University’s Indianapolis North Campus from 2 – 7 pm. As our signature Pro-Bono event, this year’s Financial Planning Day was one of the best attended years for volunteer turn-out. When it was all said and done, we had 33 CFP volunteers and 10 student volunteers.  Seven different seminars on various financial planning topics were also held, along with the attendees being able to visit with a number of community and governmental support agencies, including the Secretary of State’s office and the Social Security Administration. Our Financial Planning Day promotional team was very busy around town participating in a variety of media and promotional events. Some of the promotion you may have seen included the WTHR morning newscast interview, radio interviews on WIBC and WTLC as well as promoting the event during the Statehouse Market.  FPA member Elaine Bedel also wrote a nice piece for Inside Indiana Business the week prior.FP Day 2015.1 FP Day 2015.3
