Volunteering

There are many ways to use your talents in partnership with the Financial Planning Association of Greater St. Louis.

Some opportunities take no more than a couple hours of your time and others allow you to see the impact you can have with a longer commitment.

Volunteer to serve the St. Louis community

One-on-one financial counseling whether at a one day event like at the Financial Planning Day offered each October or offered individually through military outreach programs throughout the year can be a very rewarding way to give back to the community.

If teaching classes and workshops is more in line with your skill set, consider helping with MoneySmart Week each spring, or the other opportunities to teach that arise throughout the year.   Tax prep assistance through the Tax Assistance Program is an opportunity to serve as well.

Training and materials are provided.  If any of these sound interesting to you, contact us at [email protected]

Volunteer to serve on one of our committees

A good way to connect with other professionals, and to further strengthen financial planning as a profession in the St. Louis area is to become involved by service on committees.

Tax Assistance Program (TAP) presents at FPA Meeting on 10/5/17

Looking for ways to give back to the community, to provide assistance to those in need of help?  The St. Louis Tax Assistance Program (TAP) offers free tax preparation services to low and moderate-income families to help them obtain the tax credits for which they are eligible and avoid costly income tax preparation fees.  TAP is a participant in the IRA Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program and they are looking for Volunteers.

The FPA meeting on Thursday, October 5th hosted a brief presentation about the program and their services and related needs.  You do not have to be a CPA to get involved and the roles, times, and locations are many.  Please refer to www.stlouistap.org for more details or contact the St. Louis FPA Pro Bono coordinator, Sean Smith at 314.302.7326 for more information.  New volunteers are needed and a one day training will be offered a couple of different times and locations in January.
