Howard Black Award for Achievement & Excellence in Financial Planning 

The Long Island Chapter of the FPA is seeking nominations for the 2018 Howard Black Award.

The Howard Black Award is given in memory of Howard Black, who passed away suddenly in 1992. Howard was an attorney widely recognized in the financial planning industry for his depth of knowledge and ability to impart information to friends and colleagues in a manner that was both informative and easy to understand. Howard served on the LI-IAFP Board and was a teacher, advisor, mentor and friend to many.

The recipient of the award will be recognized at the FPA Long Island Annual Symposium & Exhibition.

The Process

Please submit nominations by September 1, 2018, in a letter, up to 3 pages, describing why you believe the individual should be considered.  Submit nominations to The Howard Black Award Committee, c/o The FPA of Long Island, 200 Motor Parkway, Suite A5 Hauppauge NY 11788;  or email to fpali@optonline.net.

Any member in good standing of the Long Island Chapter of the FPA may submit a nomination. The nomination can be made for any Chapter member or it can be a self-nomination.

The Qualifications

–  Member must be in good standing *
–  Noteworthy service and contribution to the financial planning profession
–  Noteworthy service to the public
–  Adherence to high ethical standards

* Nominees are not required to be practicing financial planner professionals and might be from other allied professions or academic disciplines with strong financial planning focus.

THE SPIRIT OF FPA AWARD

The Spirit of FPA Award recognizes a Chapter member who has made significant and outstanding contributions to the Chapter. The award is given to a member who embodies the spirit of the Chapter and who exhibits dedication and enthusiasm in following the mission statement of the FPA.

The recipient of the award will be recognized at the FPA Long Island Annual Symposium & Exhibition.

The Process

The Board of Directors, including all past presidents will make the nominations for this award.  All nominations can be made at a Board meeting prior to September 1, 2017.  A nominating committee will review the nominations and make a recommendation to the Board for the recipient.

The Qualifications 

–  Active membership in the LI Chapter of the FPA
–  Noteworthy service and contribution to the Chapter
–  Adherence to high ethical standards

* Nominees are not required to be practicing financial planner professionals and might be from other allied professions or academic disciplines with strong financial planning focus.
