The FPA Philadelphia Tri-State Area Chapter was formed in 2000 with the merger of the Delaware Valley ICFP and the Philadelphia IAFP, our roots go back to 1985 when the Delaware Valley chapter was started. Our local Chapter, a sublicensee of the FPA, has adopted the FPA Statement of Purpose.

  • Position the CFP member as the advisor of choice in financial planning matters in the minds of consumers, educators, regulators and the media.
  • Assist the members in professional and career development, knowledge enhancement and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Represent the member in regulatory, industry and liaison matters.

Membership Information


Qualifications to become a member of the FPA Philadelphia Tri-State Area Chapter


Individual Members:

  • Any individual is eligible for membership in the association who demonstrates a professional interest in financial planning including students enrolled in a CFPâ.
  • Is willing to abide by the bylaws of the Association and the code of Ethics as prescribed in the bylaws.
  • Is a member of the Financial Planning Association. To join go to the link at the bottom of this page for the FPA on-line application.

Institutional Members:

  • The designated representative of any institutional member of the Broker-Dealer or Corporate Division of the National FPA who are willing to abide by these by laws and the code of ethics as prescribed below shall also qualify as individual member’s. Code of Ethics


  • All CFP licensee members shall be subject to the CFP board’s code of professional ethics and the CFP board’s practice standards.
  • All individual members who are not CFP licensees and who hold themselves out to the public as financial planners shall abide by the principles of the FPA code of practice standards, as a condition of membership.
