CFPs are required to fulfill a 2 hour CFP ethics course every two years to maintain their certification. The ethics requirement demonstrates to the public that certificants have agreed to provide personal financial planning in the client’s best interest and to act in accordance with the highest ethical and professional standards for the practice of financial planning. We are happy to assist in fulfilling this requirement in three different ways:
Live Ethics Program
Once a year, we provide a live program where certificants are able to review the information with an instructor in a classroom environment. Our 2018 program took place in August. Please see our past events section for more information.
Online Ethics Program
We offer a self-study course that enables you to complete the program in the comfort of your own home and at your own pace. The test and materials are sent through a link and you simply send the test back to us for grading when you are done. The cost for the test is $30 for members of FPA and $70 for nonmembers. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to participate or for more information.
Online Ethics Program – Symposium
The registration fee at our bi-annual symposium includes the online self-study course mentions above. The 2019 symposium takes place on Thursday, September 19th. Click here for more information and to register.
